The Delaware Children’s Museum opened on April 24, 2010, at the riverfront Shipyard Shops in downtown Wilmington. Experts estimate it will expose over 100,000 visitors a year─most of them children─to a range of issues affecting Delaware's coastal environment.
One of the Museum's exhibits is called "ECOnnect." ECOnnect allows children to learn about water locks, wind power and more simply by playing with interactive features. This is also the case with the museum’s centerpiece, called “The StratoSphere.” Here kids can learn about the Earth's atmosphere by climbing around a three-story structure, inside makeshift clouds.
The Delaware Children's Museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and admission costs $12 per person (12 months and younger admitted free). Discounted group passes and annual family memberships are both available for purchase.
