Tourists can overtake a beach at times, but this seldom happens at Beach Plum Nature Preserve. See for yourself when you take a relaxing stroll down the undeveloped bayshore of this two-mile barrier island.
Beach Plum Nature Preserve is protected by the state to preserve 129 acres of habitat for plants and animals. The north half is open for surf fishing, beachcombing and more from March to December. There is even an air pump for you to refill your tires when you've finished reeling in your catch.
As in any state, we suggest you consult current fish advisories before eating local fish. These can be found at Delaware.gov, keyword "fish advisories." And whenever in doubt, simply practice catch-and-release fishing, a fun pastime by all accounts.
Insect repellant is recommended while visiting this sensitive site.
