Fox Point State Park is described as "a window on the river," and it's easy to see why. On a clear day visitors can see Philadelphia, the Delaware Memorial Bridge, and the Commodore Barry Bridge on the horizon. Tankers, barges, and tug boats are also common sights, often to the delight of children.

Bring the entire family and enjoy a day beside the Delaware River estuary. Horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, and a playground are all available to use. So are two pavilions you can easily rent for large gatherings. That or explore the park's 170 acres, 60 of which line the riverfront. A paved walking trail is available to anyone seeking a scenic walk, jog, or bicycle ride.

Full disclosure: This site's closeness to both I-495 and SEPTA's trains detracts from an all-natural experience. That said, it is still one of the best places in the state to view the Delaware River.
