The DuPont Nature Center is one of the East Coast's premiere wildlife-watching destinations. Visitors can discover the horseshoe crabs and migratory birds that have graced its shores for eons.
The best time to visit is in May and June, when shorebirds fly in to feast on fatty horseshoe crab eggs. A great time to bring the family is during the center's annual Peace, Love, & Horseshoe Crab Festival in May.
Many people bring their binoculars, spotting scopes, and snacks so they can take in the sights for hours on end. Others ride the tide on the Mispillion River so they can take in this spectacle from Delaware Bay.
