The Delaware Center for Horticulture maintains public gardens that are open on weekdays during daylight hours. Each of these features plants that are suited for the region and are available in local garden centers and nurseries. Guided group tours are available for a nominal fee, and both Gibraltar Gardens and Goodstay Gardens are within a short drive.
